Sepia Tracks

Railroad tracks in Round Rock, Texas, near the site of the infamous 1927 train crash which took the lives of the entire basketball team of Baylor University. This accident caused the current national requirement for all school buses to stop and look both directions on the tracks before crossing them. More on the story is here.

There were a few survivors of the crash. One, John Kane, went on to join the US Army Air Corps and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for commanding his B-24 in a raid on oil refineries near Ploesti, Romania, safely returning his crew over a round trip of more than 2,400 miles.
