I doubt if anyone would be silly enough or willing to give me $100,000 or even $10 for this banana.  How can anyone be justified in paying the asking price of $120,000 for a banana stuck to the wall?   Last weekend people were horrified when David Datuna grabbed it off the wall at one of the world’s most important contemporary art fairs in Florida and then ate it.   The banana was “a symbol of golden trade” and apparently he “did not destroy the art work.  The banana is the idea.”   Two had previously been sold at outrageous prices when they started to over ripen..What is art?
