Diary of an Edinburgher

Muzzle?

I listened to the radio coverage of the election much of the night, though mostly I dozed - once the totally unexpected exit poll results were announced, then there was no cliff hanger. I've watched much of the TV coverage today. Fascinating.

JR had her two 9am fitness sessions, and then went off for breakfast in the cafe with her gym pals.

Archie and I took a wander down to the Meadows in the weak sunshine. But we popped in to the new(ish) cafe first (while he wasn’t muddy), where I was so shocked at the price of a soya flat white several weeks ago that I haven’t been back since. Although they don’t have awful twangy muzak, and Archie got a biscuit, it'll be another while before I return.

We walked over the Meadows, and Archie kindly jumped up on the tree stump for a photo opportunity. That's the old hospital in the background, now posh flats, with new-builds in between. There were lots of 'oooohs' and 'aaaahs' and 'Look at that cute wee dog posing on the tree stump' from passers by while I fiddled around taking photos, trying to keep my shadow off him.

He picked up some big hunk of something and ran off with it. He waited till I got within a step of him, wagging his tail (such fun!) before he ran off to eat whatever it was, in peace. He ignored my calls and whistles until he was good and ready. I had to wait for ages! Naughty boy. That muzzle to stop him eating rubbish (I keep threatening him with) is getting nearer...

In the afternoon we had a surprise visit from a good friend whom we haven’t seen for ages. Lots of news to catch up with, not all of it good.

A momentous day.
