A rare survivor
Well, that's what the plaque says and the Guildhall is said to be one of the oldest buildings in Carlisle. Built in 1407 with shops on the ground floor, workshops and accommodation above, it has had many uses, one of which was to house the meetings of the Trade Guilds of Carlisle.
There is supposed to be a museum on the upper floor, but I have never found it open. Neither have I been in the restaurant that now occupies the ground floor.
It's going to be a long night. Que sera, sera!
