One month!
Kind of a big day (maybe) for me; it's my one month anniversary as a member of Blipfoto, and it's also one month until I finish my current job.
One month, and a picture every day. Most definitely could have been better, but I'm so glad I started doing it. I definitely have noticed that forcing myself out to take shots every day has helped me to improve my understanding of my camera, techniques, and how to put together a shot. It's only been one month, but so far this feels like one of those hobbies that might actually stick.
As for my job, I've been teaching English at the same school in the same town for three and a half years now. Average teacher in my company lasts less than two years, so I'm an old veteran by now. I'm definitely ready to move on, but I do get worried about what's the next step.
Seeing this surveyor at the lot right next to my school got me thinking today a lot about that next step. I don't feel like I've been building to anything these last few years, like I've just been in stasis after college. Much like the lot, which has been empty my whole time here, waiting for construction to begin again after stopping during the economic recession. While the next job won't really be a step in the direction I want to head in, it will give me time to focus on improving and making marketable the skills I want to use in my future profession, and will allow me the time for what might be a year long farewell party to my friends in Japan (Not closing the book on Japan forever, but for now, one more year in Japan feels like it will be enough for this entry in my life's story).
