Who knew!
Unlike doli, I am not a botanist. So I THINK this is a dandelion, but for all I know it's a false dandelion - related, but not the real deal. Maybe someone out there in blipland knows for sure?
One of the things I love about macro photography is discovering things in the final image that I would never have noticed otherwise, and then googling to find out what they are. So, if this IS a dandelion, the flower head is composed of a large number of individual florets, each of which has one of these squiggly things the tops of which look a bit like an I.U.D. - and if you know what THAT is, you're either a medico, or you're showing your age.
Now this is fun - a time lapse fillum of a dandelion flower changing to a seed head.
