Rai…

…………….River,  NZ.


On our trip home from Havelock this afternoon we stopped at Pelorus Bridge Scenic Reserve, a well known spot on the main road from Picton / Blenheim to Nelson, and walked through bush on the Circle Walk.

Standing in the centre of the suspension bridge this is a view of the Rai River just before it feeds into the Pelorus River and they tumble their way to the sea at Pelorus Sounds, near Havelock.

The dust from the Australian bush fires filling the atmosphere above Nelson have been blown northward and our sky is clear once again - for the moment anyway! 
Thank fully our area escaped flooding and any major damage from the incredible thunder storm and rain that wrecked havoc further south in recent days.

White Island, a volcano in the Bay of Plenty, NZ, erupted this afternoon. To date five people have died, 18 people are injured, 2 of them are critical and an unknown number, believed to be at least 10, are still missing on the island.
