2nd Sunday in Advent....
There had been several options for today, all good, all things we’d have really enjoyed, but it’s beginning to get difficult to do everything, to match up dates and friends and family. No complaints, in fact feeling blessed by all we could do in this lead up to the season of Christmas.
Ian was brilliant and challenging again in the service this morning. This week in the series Gifts for Giving, a new wise man (my extra and I have shown him before) was added to the story and his gift of frankincense. Frankincense has always been used for healing and in worship. It is an incense and a word used several times in the bible in connection with prayer, repentance, sharing and love, all enabling our connection with God and pleasing to him.
My photo shows our evening before the event actually started. I spotted this during the week and we headed for Kensington and St Mary Abbots Church to hear the choir and singers, sing Handel’s Messiah. Excellent seats, because we knew we needed to get there early, meant we had a wonderful evening. It was advertised as a Baroque Christmas concert by candlelight and as I had to miss the Advent service at Saint Martin -in -the -fields last Sunday, this evening was extra special.
I’m late posting again and it’s really Monday morning now....
