Catch
I woke to snow, but it didn't last. It snowed all morning, so the weather did its best to try and grind city life to a halt. London was prepared this time. It seemed that the councils had finally learnt their lessons of previous years and everything was gritted. The transport ran on time and no one moaned about being late. In fact, no one commented on the snow at work, which was strange. Has snow become normal? Hum. The more likely explanation is that everyone's very busy at the moment, so admiring snow wasn't on the schedule.
My journey home wasn't so smooth; the X68 bus broke down in the middle of the road. It wasn't safe to let us out until another bus came alongside to stop the traffic in the outside lane, which meant we could reach the pavement without being run over. Thank you, driver of bus 59. I caught another bus home, but that driver wouldn't believe I'd already paid for a ticket (he could see the stranded bus, but he couldn't check my pay-as-you-go Oystercard). Apparently, I should have asked the X68 driver for a transfer ticket. TfL will receive a letter from me tomorrow when my transport history is all online and I can point out the obvious (the X68 doesn't stop anywhere near I caught the second bus).
I watched Fear and Trembling this evening, which had be giggling and cringing in equal amounts. It brought back the feelings of working as a teenager in various places. After I'd watched the film, I looked it up and I was amazed to read that it's based on a true story. Good grief.
