The Pursuit of ....

my first real snow fall

I have been watching the weather forecast religiously for the last week in the hopes of snow; and today it came! I woke up this morning and looked out the window to find the first dusting on the cars outside; which was a good enough reason to haul out the new snow shoes I bought on sale at the end of last winter in preparation for this moment. I had a fleeting thought that they would be overkill; but wore them anyway. On the way to work; I took loads of photographs, expecting it to be gone by lunch time. Instead; as I was keeping close tabs out my office window, it started to really come down as the morning went on. Eventually, I could stand it no more and went out for a walk. Just up the road is a park with playing fields and a kids play area. As I took this photo, I could hear children in the school next to the park laughing and playing in the snow. Brilliant!

Needless to say; people at work were more amazed by my fascination of the snow falling than the snow itself. They seemed amazed that this was my first real experience of a proper snowfall; and not just a scattering on the ground that will have melted within an hour! I am, after all from a very sunny country. The forecast is looking good for more snow during the week .....
