East of Ednam

A trip into Berwickshire today for lunch at our friends C and C's.

It was a beautiful morning, the sky blue and the hedges white with frost, the fields a patchwork of green, gold and earth colours.  Cold, very cold.

C and C are very old friends, we've known them since our schooldays, and for years we lived at opposite ends of the country, but now they live in the next county, which is lovely.

Lots to talk about. Family news, of course - their eldest has just become a QC: his daughters were most impressed by the letter from the Queen, countersigned by Nicola Sturgeon.
The election - Mr C is an activist for the SNP, lots of canvassing for him at the moment, an uphill fight here.
News of old friends exchanged, new hobbies revealed, etc.
Amazing that after 60 years we can still find plenty to talk about.

The sun had already set before we left. I took this from their porch just before it did. It's great to be out and about again :-)
