The Walking Man

This 17 metre (56 foot) high statue, by Jonathan Borofsky was installed on Leopoldstrasse in 1995.

Today I visited the NS Dokuzentrum, blipped yesterday. It is a very well laid-out and illustrated account of the rise of the Nazi movement and the inhumanity that it unleashed. It is just one of many ways in which Germany has worked very hard and well to learn lessons, never to forget and to ensure such a catastrophe does not happen again. It left me feeling a sense of foreboding about other nations, where in future hard times, brought about by economic, environmental or social change, similar evil forces could rise again. Very sobering.
