A short but sweet blipmeet....

Today I had my second blipmeet with Audrey and her sister Marla at the Duwamish Long House in Seattle. In the thumbnail you see the Smith Tower where we met the first time in 2017. This also shows the Duwamish River so vital to commerce today and yet also so vital to the Native America tradition. Sadly although the tribes name is recognized by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the tribe isn't recognized by the Federal Government  and all the benefits that go along with it.

Since I'm early to everything, I took a nice walk along the Duwamish River. The top left photo is looking the other way from the main photo. The lower left is a little inlet around a small island, a child's chair carved from a stump and an important image to the tribe.

In the second collage is things in and around the longhouse along with a sneaky shot of Audrey and Marla. The last collage is history of the tribe along with a painting of the American Flag upside down - Translation - The Duwamish Tribe is in distress not being recognized.

It was a short but sweet blipmeet but it's wonderful to know that there will be another someday. Thanks Audrey and Marla for a lovely morning.
