Canterbury War Horse
Over eight million horses died during the First World War. Many travelled through Kent on their way to the continent.
The Canterbury War Horse is sited in the precinct grounds of Canterbury Cathedral. This large wooden sculpture represents conflict and the loss of human and animal life. It was a collaborative project between staff and students of Canterbury College of Visual Arts.
This morning we walked around the old walls and cloisters , and looked at monuments dating from the 11th century.
We spent a couple of hours inside the cathedral. It is a magnificent building and where Thomas Becket was archbishop from 1162 until his murder in 1170. He was later made a saint.
I have added some extras of the precincts.
