Blasts from the Past.
Tonight at camera club we have an evening where members bring favourite photos from the past, favourite for whatever reason. This could be a very interesting night. So, my blip for today is one of my submissions, I hope this is ok, as the collage of 4 pictures were taken some 53 years ago. I've always been grateful that I took these photos when I was at boarding school. I think I was the only one with a camera, and way back then it wasn't easy to get my photos developed, I can't remember precisely, but we had no access to shops or post (apart from the weekly letter home). It was a very strict regime, a school for children of the Armed services, and ran to the same desciplines. So, I assume I had them developed when I went home for holidays. Films, black and white and in reels of 12. I'm proud that I got them right, no digital to check and retake back then (1966). The school building is on the top left. I featured this as the picture on the right is my group of friends doing homework and sunning ourselves - We were strictly OUT OF BOUNDS! Dare I tell that underneath us was the huge water tank for the school that we would swim in occasionally! Naughty, naughty girls!
Bottom left is the view from the top of a fir tree in the extensive grounds. I would climb it to the top where there were three branches that formed what us girls called 'The armchair'. I'd sit there, gently swaying and take my photos. The thought of it now makes my knees tingle!!! You can see the height in this picture compared to the building, giving perspective.
To the right is a group of my friends, I actually think I wouldn't be able to place a group together as well today. These are scanned pictures and the shaded area on the right is not as dark in the original.
These are photos I am very proud to have as now the school is luxury apartments. I'm still in contact with one of the girls in the pictures.
I was always interested in photography, but it's only now that I'm trying harder at it. Hope my explanation goes ok tonight as I hate to 'public speak' as such.
