Beauty
"Beauty in things exists merely in the mind which contemplates them."
From David Hume's Essays, Moral and Political, 1742.
This ancestor figure started life in the village of Kambot on the Karem River in North-Eastern New Guinea. She is made from wood covered in dried mud, decorated with twisted coconut fibre and with inlaid cowries for eyes.
She has lived with us for almost 50 years and was very far from new when we first met.
