Murmuration of starlings

On our way back from Gretna to Carlisle we spotted one of the eight wonders of the world :-

A Murmuration of starlings!

A swooping mass of thousands of starlings whirling in the sky!

We couldn't get too close as the M6 motorway was in the way!

The huge numbers of starlings means that it is difficult for a predator to single out one bird as prey.

A truly amazing sight!!!
