The dropped stitch

A Westray lobster

A fascinating and beautiful creature. I had no idea they were so brightly coloured, especially their blue tails.

It's unusual to find someone at the Lobster ponds, so I was pleased to be able to get a meter reading.

The young fisherman spoke with pride and enthusiasm about the business and showed me each different tank holding lobsters of increasingly large dimensions. We peered into the depths of the water holding the largest ones. It was dark with their entangled bodies. He reached in but couldn't get hold of one to show me. I was rather relieved about that.

It was exciting to see these creatures so close up but rather sad to think of the fate awaiting them.

They are waiting for Christmas. But not in a good way.
