The Gloucester Tree
In Gloucester National Park WA.
One of several trees fitted with climbing spikes and tree top shelters. Used for fire spotting, back in the day before technology.
It’s 53 metres to the top. Firefighters stopped using them years ago. Amazingly a few survive as tourist attractions, and some they let tourists climb!!
The sign recommends wearing sturdy shoes and not climbing in the rain! Makes sense!!
Couldn’t find any official records of tourist deaths doing this. I’m guessing there must be some!
