Fingers Flying!
Today we went to see our friends' daughter - Daisy age 14 - playing the accordion in a competition in Skipton. Daisy lives with her family in the small but lively village of Moniaive near where we lived in Dumfries and Galloway. She played really well and also played a duet for us in the practice room with her friend. I love to see kids learning music and seeing the pleasure it brings them and all who listen to them.
Daisy's parents - Jude and Jake brought her down here for the competition so it was lovely to see them all and hear news from up yonder!
Jude is a member of the same choir that we belonged to - Cairn Chorus. You can look them up on Youtube.
After we left them I went in to town to fill up my washing up liquid and laundry liquid bottles at the refill shop, then I searched for a new vegan shop in Skipton which took me ages to find and when I eventually did the man was just closing up for the night. He very kindly unlocked the door and let me buy some things I'd gone specifically for and I also found some other yummy things :-b
Now we're cosy by the stove which thankfully is burning well after a calamity this morning. When Frank first lit it there must have been some kind of blockage in the flue and the boat filled with smoke and set the fire alarm off! We had to open all the windows and it was bloomin' freezing!
All good now :-)
