The Disused Railway
I decided to walk the dogs from home this morning, a route that Cassie and I used to do regularly in her younger days. I wasn't sure how she would cope with the hilly 1.5 mile round trip so was prepared to turn back if she started to object. I needn't have worried. She trotted along quite happily, enjoying all the new smells in the woods.
For anyone with an elderly dog, I thoroughly recommend Metacam. A daily dose has transformed Cassie from a creaky, arthritic old girl into a Wonderdog who is loving life again. Long may it continue!
Once home and the dogs were settled, I set out for Bovey Tracey and a walk through the woods at Parke.
Last Monday the leaves were still predominately green but today the russets and golds were beautiful in the sunshine.
This avenue of beeches and oaks line the route of the disused railway, a victim of Dr Beeching back in the 60's.
Today it is used by dog walkers and cyclists and, at this time of year, one very happy photographer.
The weather is due to change tomorrow and Monty and Dixie are back for the weekend but I feel like I've had a photographic holiday this week, finding/making lots of time for myself.
Happy weekend to you all
