South Island Tit (Ngirungiru)

I headed down to the West Coast Treetop Walk this morning, then on the way back to Hokitika I stopped at the Mananui Bush walk and took a wee wander. It was great. I didn't see another soul until I was almost back out, and when I did they were tourists who were fascinated by our birds. I was able to point out the grey warblers, brown creepers and our native tit.

The bird life was abundant but the bush was so dark that all my photos are grainy and disappointing. Here she is anyway - a wee female South Island Tit - the Maori name is Ngirungiru.
