Sammy
Today I blip my cat, Sammy, for the first of many times to come most likely.
The hubby and I got Sammy a few weeks after we were married from the SPCA in Monterey, CA.
You see, I went to the SPCA a week or 2 before then to see about surprising the hubs with a new dog. Unfortunately, I didn't match too well with any of the pooches there :( However, being the crazy cat lady that I am, I had to at least look at the kitties before leaving :)
Sammy was the oldest cat there (9 years old). He was chubby and had matted hair. I instantly wanted to take him home knowing that not many people would adopt a 9 year old cat, but the husband wouldn't have been too pleased with a new cat (he didn't like them much then). I left thinking I would never see Sammy again.
A few weeks later, on a free weekend out, we heard about an adopt-a-thon going on at the SPCA so he suggested we just go look since we had the time. He naturally wanted to see the pups first, but as with me, he too found none he had a good match with. Appeasing me, we went to the newly titled "Cat Wonderland" cat area were Sammy was perched on the highest post of the many cat scratchers in the room. It was instant! He jumped straight down and came straight to the hubs and I. Hubby didn't think twice before saying "I want this cat." He said it before I said anything. You see, them choosing you makes for the best kind of relationship.
We've had Sammy for 5 years now. He's a very integral part of our lives as weird as that sounds. He's the best! He is extremely smart, a little chubby and knows when your upset or happy. He fetches sticks and plays with our dog as though he himself is a dog. He loves the occasional adventure outside of the apt door into the corridor and he is very persistent about getting wet cat food. He'll give you more love than you could imagine.
We hope to have Sammy for many more years to come!
xoxo,
