A fortunate accident?

Some time ago I was asked if I had a Spider plant to spare. I was lucky I remembered it as Chlorophytum (comosum, I didn't know) 'Variegatum'

A swift search put it in NASA's top ten for oxygen "manufacture".

I, recently, saw a TED talk by a bloke called Kamal Meattle on "Growing fresh air". He didn't mention this one, but I remembered, also, seeing something by/about NASA & oxygen and a hunt put this in their top ten though I don't know if its position @ 3rd was at all significant. it said:-

"The spider plant is a commonly found houseplant and is one that is really easy to grow. Within just two days, this plant can remove up to 90 percent of the toxins in your indoor air. The leaves grow quickly and help to absorb harmful substances like mold and other allergens so it is the perfect plant for those who have common dust allergies. It also helps to absorb small traces of formaldehyde and carbon monoxide."
Having seen one in a local supermarket for the princely sum of 30 bob (That's £1.50 to you folk under that age) so I thought "Hell, why not" - then I found out about its qualities.
If I keep this up I can probably install air-locks on all entries.
