A New Day...

...and this little hummingbird was making his rounds of the grevillea under the kitchen window. I had left the camera there in hopes of catching him. Too bad it was the wrong camera, but it's a nice example of our usual clear blue skies....

We will continue to discuss  generators, storage batteries solar panels and moving. I doubt if we'll get anywhere. This morning we were at Trail House with a couple of people from class, all of us looking rather weary and definitely in need of coffee and all contemplating, what next?

John tends to take an actuarial view of things: "We'll probably only need a generator once a year, and if it rains in October we won't even need it then..." while I tend to be slightly more hysterical..."bull****. It's only going to get worse. With Trump reversing environmental protections as fast as he can and sea levels rising, and drought getting worse, PG&E will be turning the power off even more... "I have an idea', says John, 'let's just clean out the fridge and go to Oregon for the month of October"....

We will continue to discuss moving. But that gets into the murky waters of how many more years will we live? How many more years before we can't live on our own? Confronting one's mortality is not a subject for Monday morning coffee even after a firestorm. Especially after a firestorm.

I thought one final picture would bring this episode to a close. Apparently the picture, taken from the Press Democrat, which I've put in extras went viral on the internet after the wedding photographer posted it on Facebook. The winery where it was taken is only a mile or two from our house. The idea was to have the Mayacamas Mountains as a backdrop to the wedding.  I think the wedding was moved indoors....
