To the Moon and back
Gloucester cathedral is one of the most impressive cathedrals in the country. It has been a place of prayer and worship since the 600s.The current building was started in 1089. It was used as a set in some of the Harry Potter films.
Its vast space is currently hosting the Luke Jerram Moon display. It was rather busy being half term and we couldn't really hear the accompanying music.
The 7 metre diameter structure is made of parachute silk type material and is made up of images from Nasa of the surface of the moon, at a scale of
1:500,000.
It's pretty stunning in that setting.
Behind is the western stained glass window, partially visible , and the extra shows some more modern stained glass, a beautiful shade of deep blue, from 1992 in the Thomas chapel.
