Naughty Basil
It has to be Basil today. All my best deer photos came out blurred. Curses!
It was a glorious Autumn afternoon. After singing with Judy, Basil and I went to Bradgate Park in case there were any more deer to be seen. From the Newtown Linford entrance, we climbed the hill up to the ridge on which sit Old John and the Memorial. I was pleased that I was able to manage it even if it meant stopping frequently.
There was a coppice of sweet chestnut at the top in which two very young bucks were foraging. Sorry, the photos didn't come out, except for the extra. And a magnificent view over Leicester and the Soar Valley.
A few red deer were grazing just below the crest of the hill. Basil spotted the senior stag and ran to investigate. The stag lifted his head and Basil came running back at a very fast pace.
Not so with the fallow deer. Basil spotted them and ran after them, which made them run off and then Basil chased after them even more. I told him he was lucky not to have been shot by a ranger.
The light was golden, serene, superb.
Too tired really for camera club but went to join in the Time lapse demo and practical, moving toy cars in a scenario that Cecil captured on his camera.
