cold, Cold, COLD!!!

This photo best represents today as the majority of the day was spent sitting on top of an open top tour bus. We were aiming to do all three routes. The blue route, Latin quarter, was first and really enjoyable. We had to get off for a short walk around and warm up before going into the green route. We sat in a nice cafe/restaurant with patio heaters inside a sheltered area. Our heads got very hot!!!
Something I've noticed about Paris is that there are a lot of people begging. It has made me realise how few in comparison there are in Leeds.
The green route was fine but we were just cold and it just took forever to get anywhere. Although I did find the traffic jams (particularly by the Bastille) very entertaining!
Hot hot hot chocolate to warm us back up after that one.
We've discovered that the Parisians don't do properly hot drinks. Everything is just, 'drink it down as fast as you can now' warm. Even when we asked for it extra warm and he gave it to us saying 'extra hot'.
We only took the red route to Montmartre. We were very happy to walk up all the steps to the top.
I loved it there. The sun was just setting when we got there. The church itself was open so we went in. It was lovely and quiet and warm ...... and so high!
After we wandered round some tourist shops (one that had some great pottery, in particular a yellow chicken with a scrawny neck and bulging eyes, that I just fell for!!! But they only had the one that was bolted down outside, so there my little chicken was left!
We then stopped in to a little place for dinner. It was small and crammed with little tables as is the Parisian way but what was really impressive was that before we were ready to leave every table was full (and the big restaurant across the road was empty).
A few more tat shops then we headed back on the metro. (Thankfully it was too late for the open top bus!)
I do enjoy open top bus tours but I would recommend not to do all three routes of Paris in one day!
