A trench of archaeologists

Not sure if there is a generic noun for a group of archaeologists but a trench of them sounds about right.
After some more rugby, the local archaeology group had a trip out to Dun Torcuill, one of the best preserved broch sites on Uist. Twelve of us made it along with eight dogs. Not everybody dared to cross the causeway but certainly worth it when we got there.
