Days of Wine and Roses ?
Awoke to clear skies and sunshine, perfect fine autumn weather. So we decided on a circular walk, but not too far away as we had lots to do.
The circular walk proved impossible, however. We had never seen the River Weaver like this. After the recent rains it had risen 9 feet and burst its banks. Including across the footpath beyond Dutton Locks, so impassable.
The blip is a view from Dutton Locks towards the Horse bridge and the high level viaduct carrying the west coast mainline railway across the Weaver valley. The Horse bridge is semi submerged. But at least the narrow boat - the inappropriately named “Wine and Roses” - is still attached to its mooring, Elsewhere we passed three boats which had come adrift, been carried downstream by the current, and then smashed into bridges (extra shows two of them).
