A hazy morning
It is a bit uncomfortable having a total stranger staying in your house, showing them how everything works including the alarm and password codes. I guess that is what happens when you get a house sitter and you have to believe that people are inherently trustworthy. Last night the house/dog sitter got to learn more about Xena's night time routine and behaviour, and all seemed to go well.
This morning after breakfast we took Xena for a walk to a different woods from yesterday, so I could show her the different walks available. Xena is at the stage where she is really enjoying her walks, running along at top speed and jumping over the muddy puddles (thankfully not in them!). The light was a bit peculiar this morning - it was hazy and seemed to be pinkish, almost as if it was nearing sunset when in fact it was 10am in the morning.
After our walk D left to go home - she will be back in just over 2 week's time to look after Xena while we go away for a few days. I am dreading leaving her!
A friend treated me to lunch, we met at a local Japanese restaurant and as we met quite late for lunch we were the only ones there, so we could talk without having to contend with the usual loud noise arising from all the restaurant chatter. It was a delicious light lunch.
Xena got another walk this afternoon, and is now having a sleep. I have book club tonight where we will be discussing White Crysanthemum, our book choice this month. I really enjoyed it very much. I am now reading the (joint) Booker prize winner, Girl, Woman, Other which is a very good read.
