Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Comfort food

This is always my 'go to' comfort food - Eggy toast, there's nothing French about it - with fried tomato, well actually I've just realised this is a bit French being made with two day old baguette!
When I'm in India if I want something simple and homely it's what I turn to. This delightful plateful is concealing a plate from my 'new' 1970's era Denby Troubadour dinner service which I absolutely love. I retired our Portmerion Botanic Garden, which we've had since the mid - 80's, last year and have managed to accumulate a good quantity of this design, most in almost new condition. The flower is apparently a magnolia.
Colin has gone to spend a couple of days with his mum so I've spent the day doing lots of tasks... Took Communion to one of the congregation who is housebound this morning
Went home and changed and went out again to pick some brambles
Boiled up the brambles and a couple of apples and set them dripping for jelly
Made a pot of chicken and leek soup
Went out to buy the Christmas cake ingredients and set the fruit soaking overnight in brandy
Cleaned out the fish tank (long overdue)
Visited Ali and Stuart
Visited our former Rector and his wife
Went to pay the bathroom shop bill
Went to drop something off at the church treasurer's house
Read my book!
