A View From the Top
I have mentioned before the loads and loads of gravel and dirt being transported up Los Alamos road behind our house in convoys of trucks. This morning we decided to drive up to the top of the ridge to see what we could see. Clearly they are replacing a lot of the pylons which support a multitude of wires. It was quite a sight seeing them hauling all those huge metal bases up the hill behind us... also a strong motivating factor in not going up there before this to investigate, not wishing to meet one of those trucks on the way back down. I still don't quite see how they even fit.
Sonoma County is full of places with spectacular views, and this one just a few miles up the road from our house has to be close to the top of the list. Just around the corner the entire city of Santa Rosa, the Laguna and Sebastopol stretch out all the way to the Pacific Ocean on the horizon. The only problem is, one doesn't dare take one's eyes from the narrow, exposed road to enjoy it!
The road continues steeply down the other side of the ridge to Hood Mountain Regional Park which is where fire burned fiercely for days in October 2017. It is also the source of Santa Rosa Creek which makes its way down the canyon at the foot of the dark green double bump in the center of this picture and past our house.
Jim is cooking dinner at our house tonight so that we don't have to try to coax Ozzie into the car or leave him home alone. Now that is service above and beyond....
