Captives in Crystal

crystalline branches
glaze over thin ice
creaking and racing
with tendrils they reach
rime covered captives
caught frozen, immobile
snared silent and still


For the Record,
This day came in frosty with ice on our windshield and thinning ice on a local pond. The temperature promises to be nearly spring-like later on, we'll see!

I was just about to go out on some errands when I noticed some backyard guests out by the side stonewall. They left with a leap and a flourish . Two sweet does , looking for food.
