We made it! Day One on the Simpson Desert.
Here we are standing on top of Big Red, the largest dune on the Simpson, at the eastern end.

A long day from Birdsville, driving west out to the Dunes, and then around the Eyre Creek flooding detour (another 75 kms) to our first camp after Eyre Creek itself. There's a photo in Extras of Mk&H crossing the Eyre Creek crossing.

There are far more people on the Simpson than there were the last times I've been out here. There's a Desert Bash happening at Big Red, in a couple of weeks and we suspect a lot of traffic will be heading east, towards us.
