Yay!

10 days old
Having not had a great deal to do with tiny babies since our own two were at that stage many moons ago, it comes as no surprise that babycare has moved on in different ways.  Over the years there have been many changes of advice about sleeping, for example:  on their front; on their side; under blankets; not under blankets; with bumpers and toys; without bumpers and toys.  It seems thinking has gone full circle to swaddling, as many folks used to do in centuries gone by.  Certainly Baby Euan sleeps much better when he is swaddled.  I imagine it feels like a good close cuddle.

There are no home visits from midwives over here, maybe they don't exist back home either now!  So today a lactation specialist was calling to advise on feeding and winding, so Rob and I drove up to the house in Salem to measure up the bathroom for the new suite and to see how the contractors are getting on.  I also met one of their lovely neighbours Diane who was out on her stoop waiting to go shopping with a friend.

The lactation specialist was pleased with Euan's progress and gave Becky several good suggestions to improve feeding comfort and easing windy babies.

After lunch the family headed out to the front for their daily walk whilst I swept and mopped the floor and went for some shopping.

Rob says Euan looks like a burrito in his swaddle suit!
