Cathy Grafting

A windy day of gales.  It was dry in the morning, but heavy rain came in for the afternoon.  Rain stopped, and winds calming tonight.

Day off work and the morning was spent around the house.  With the poor afternoon, I headed over to help friend Cathy clearing out the garage.  This job may take a few more days.  After tea, I headed to work in the pub.  An early finish, walkies with Sammy and now feet are up.

Helping Cathy (Hallett) was a fine way to pass a rainy afternoon, and she was also busy mending my work Fair Isle gansey when I arrived.  The gansey makes a great uniform for work, but wearing it every day, it soon starts to wear out.  Cathy had fixed a few holes in the main part of the gansey, but when I arrived she was working on the bask.  She hand knitted the bask and was currently grafting it in to the gansey.  God bless our homegrown knitters, they truly are skilled.  I'd love Cathy or someone else try to recreate some of my childhood ganseys my granny knitted.  Taken at Cathy's, Asta, Tingwall Valley.
