In da Engine Room

A chilly day, windy and sunny.

My weekend on, but I've been working down at Sumburgh Head all day.  A fairly steady day of visitors, but the best visitors I saw today were the Gold Crests, and finally managed to get an ok photo of one.  A quiet evening at home, walkies with Sammy and now feet up.

It's almost the end of the season for the lighthouse, so today the fog horn has been blasted for a good half hour, also happens at the start of the season.  Brian Johnson used to work for the Lighthouse Board, and also repaired these old 70 year old engines a few years back.  He soon got the engines running, which builds up the pressure, then finally blows through to boom out the horn.  Brian worked in the museum for a few years, and also is mam's 2nd cousin.  Taken in the engine room at the Sumburgh Head Lighthouse.
