Down into the Cloud forest

This is what you see when you are coming down from a high point of around 12,000 feet in the Andes in Ecuador.  You start by climbing and climbing on a lovely road out of Cuenca and you reach the high point at Three Crosses.  Then you start a slow descent down to the plains around Guayaquil and the airport to the Galapagos islands.  This takes you below the high cloud past high stony tree strewn land until you see the colour of the cloud forest below you and the high cloud above you.  And you also see what is below the cloud forest as in this shot.  Of course you lose a great deal of visibility as you drive down through the cloud forest and it can be quite scary depending on the driver!  

We are now in the very large and busy city of Guayaquil where we will have an extra early start tomorrow to get us to the airport and our flight over to Baltra.  We will be on our ship in time for lunch!  Exciting times!
