Hooded Crow
Garbh Eilean Wildlife Hide 13:07
Srart of a three or maybe four day tour round Scotland with a trip to Strontian for a Black Duck.
We'd been searching for said Black Duck once before back in June 2011 with no luck and unfortunately this trip produced the same results. However all was not wasted as it was a good days birding. After scouring the bay at Strontian (Ringed Plover, Great Black-backed Gull, Curlew and Mallard) we headed a further five miles west along the shores of Loch Sunart. There's something about The Garbh Eilean Wildlife Hide that just makes it a pleasure to visit. We ticked Goldeneye, Red-breasted Merganser, Grey Heron, Shag, Cormorant, Mallard, Herring Gull, Hooded Crow plus the colony of Common Seals. Excellent.
