High tide

After an early morning voluntary shift* we walked on the beach in a biting easterly breeze and a wind chill of 4 degrees. Later I returned to the beach, after accompanying T to her bus stop for her choir rehearsal in town, to catch the tide on the turn. It was sunny and the temperature had crept back to 9 degees. A residents’ meeting awaits at a neighbour’s house this evening. *The branch where I volunteer has been closed for refurbishment for a month .
