Doors Open Edinburgh 2019

Took advantage of the Doors Open access to visit Level 9 of the University of Edinburgh’s Appleton Tower (home to the School of Infomatics) where there is a student study centre with some fairly unique views over the centre of Edinburgh. I spoke with a member of staff who said that the weather on Doors Open day is always bright and sunny. I took loads of photos up there and I have chosen two to put up on here. The main is looking at the castle over the top of the McEwen Hall, in the foreground you can see the towers of the two ‘new’ bridges over the Forth, to the left of the Castle. The second, additional, image is looking North across the Forth to Burntisland over in Fife.

Twenty minutes later I wandered into Parliament Hall as part of the Supreme Courts with all the history going back to the 1500’s. Not many cities where you can make that shift from leading edge technology teaching to 15th Century law written in Latin in 20 minutes.
