Purple Cockatoo Orchid

Or Glossodia major.  A very common native orchid, but this year they are flowering in places where they haven't been seen for years.  The Rower and I went for a walk along one of the bush tracks, and it was heart-stoppingly beautiful  So many flowers this year.

I'm putting it down to the very cool nights and mild days.  Last year we had a burst of hot weather early in Spring which finished most of the flowers off.  This year is very different.
