Andean Cloud
Most of today has been spent at around the 9000 feet above sea level in the Ecuadorian Andes and travelling down the Avenue of Volcanoes. The day started early with check in for the train to Boliche National Park which took us down the Avenue - it takes about three hours from Quito and is an amazing train journey. A group of motorbike outriders go along and ahead to make sure that the traffic stops for the train to have an uninterrupted journey. You can see one of the outriders at the refreshment and toilet stop. He kindly posed for me. We saw more volcanoes than I can remember the names of, went for a walk through some of the Primary Forest at nearly 10,000 feet and followed a horse on the back of a pick up truck for some miles. I hope you will be able to see these in the extras.
We are now at a beautiful old hotel which belongs to a collector of old machines such as cash registers, typewriters, wirelesses, record players , clocks, signs and all manner of other things, near Riobamba, a fair way south in Ecuador. We go even further south tomorrow as we wend our way gradually towards the Galapagos Islands.
Sampled my first Pisco Sour tonight. Very nice! Could be the first of many.
