on-camera flash fo rmacro

I'm thinking on-camera flash for macro is fine. 

I have a cord to connect my camera to the "free" flash so I can shoot off-camera. I thought maybe it didn't work but it does and I shot a toy. It made a marginal difference in the lighting, removing the light shadow on the left side. I aimed the light up with a bouncer on it. The light has two strengths so I'll try it at the stronger level soon.
