Getting ready...

...for Fall! When Jennie was about Mae's age I bought a green monster-mask type thing that attaches to a window in the front door with suction cups, making it look as if it's watching anyone walking up to the door. I've put it up every year since, but last year Mae absolutely freaked over it, to the point where I had to take it down. Someone mentioned the word "Halloween" the other day, and Mae immediately asked about "the green guy". I dug it out and showed it to her, and she said "THIS is the green guy"? and started laughing, so I think we're okay to put it back up again this year. I'll probably have to ask the tinies to clean the mask off too! :))
An update on my aunt: she called me last night to tell me she was having severe rectal bleeding & that they were transporting her to the hospital, so I spent this morning at the hospital with her. You KNOW the facility she's in is bad when she's happy to be at the hospital so that she can not worry for awhile! They stopped her blood thinners to see if it will help, but don't think that's causing the problem. Fortunately the gastroenterologist came in while I was there. He told her if the bleeding doesn't stop after she's been off her blood thinners, the only way they can tell what's going on is with a colonoscopy. While it's a relatively minor thing for most people, for a 94 year old with a bad heart and emphysema they can't guarantee she'd make it through the procedure. She told him she understood, and if the bleeding doesn't stop she'll do it. She told him "If I die, I die. I've been ready for a long time". Her grandson came to see her right after the doctor had been there, so I left and went home. Jennie and I went to the late showing of Downton Abbey last night--we both loved it--but I was tired when I got up this morning. Thanks to Admirer for hosting SillySaturday and to Hanulli for her tiny people challenge!  :))
