Surf's Up(s) & Down(s)

We spent the day in Newquay, watching the remarkably large number of surfers on Towan Beach before walking round the headland to Fistral Beach. The extra shows the Huer's Hut on the headland where the 'huer' used to keep a lookout for shoals of pilchards, raising a hue and cry to alert the fishermen when he saw one.

We headed back to Towan Beach for a Cornish pastie before spending the afternoon in the local cinema to catch Downton Abbey, which we thoroughly enjoyed, before a spot of tapas in a local restaurant.

After that we succumbed to the siren call of the hot tub back at the lodge.
