Thank You, Ryan Murphy
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,
"Pose" just finished. And while I didn't like this series as much as the first, the big finale was really great, a huge extravaganza that left me and Caro with big smiles on our faces.
But it left us bereft - so it was like an act of the telly gods that Ryan Murphy's NEW series dropped onto Netflix yesterday. It is called The Politician, and it is a very witty commentary on Facebook-era politicians.
(Don't worry. It is not depressing, thanks to Jessica Lange, doing another great Bette Davis impression).
That's another thing I like about his shows; that he appears to have his own repertory company of actors who appear across all his programmes. And he has great taste, introducing me to Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Billy Porter, Lily Rabe and Emma Roberts on the one hand. But also bringing back Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Judy Davis and Ricky Martin on the other.
AND - ALSO - BUT - MEANWHILE - the new season of Ryan Murphy's "American Horror Story" has just started up again as well. This new one is set in a summer camp in 1984, so you can imagine the fun the cast is having with legwarmers, fluffy haircuts and ENORMOUS pairs of glasses.
AHS can be hit and miss; I liked seasons 1, 2, 3, and 8 but the rest I got fed up with. However, this new one looks very promising. Even Caro is into it.
So it has been a high camp weekend thus far. And no, that was not supposed to be a bad pun.
S.
