Bird On A Wire

My Dear Princess & Dear Fellows,

I've had a decent Friday. I've been busy all day and even useful. Plus it was Te Reo day. Today we learned:

Kei te pēhea koe? (Kay teh peh-heh-a kway)

Which is "How are you?"

And then a number of responses.

Kei te pai au (Kay teh pie oh) - which means "I'm good!"

"Pai" is the word meaning "good". But you can substitute it for:

Nge nge - Tired
Ho ha - Fed up
Hari koe - Happy
Puku mahi - Busy

But my favourite was:

Māuiui - Which means "sick" but you pronounce it "ma weewee" and it sounds a bit rude tee hee hee.

Now I am home and watching an old film. Sometimes I'm in the mood for old movies. I love the way people talk in a "Say! What's the big idea? What gives?" Bugs Bunny sort of way.

Tonight it is "Platinum Blonde" with Jean Harlow. The male star is Robert Williams who I'd never heard of. He's actually very good but it turns out he died just 3 days after the film was released which is why he's not a big name.

Isn't it funny how tastes in looks change though? Jean Harlow was the Marilyn Monroe of her day but I just don't see it. Robert should ditch her and go off with Loretta Young instead.

Have a lovely weekend all,

S.
