RHS Rosemoor
We had a super meal last night, the hotels ethos is using home gown and locally sourced produce. The group used to be called ‘Home Grown Hotels’ and is now described as Rooms with Kitchen Garden Food. After breakfast we took a tour around the kitchen garden to see some of the produce we had eaten. A very nice young chap chatted to us about it all and as we were leaving I saw him carrying a stack of boxes down to the house full of produce for the day.
We partook of the buffet for breakfast rather than have cooked and again we got to sample home produced fruits, juices and preserves. After a selection of Autumn fruits with yoghurt I had some local cheeses with fig and walnut bread. Chris declared he couldn’t face anything else from a pig for a while after the most enormous ‘Tomahawk’ pork chop he had last night!
We’ve been quite lucky again with the weather avoiding most of today’s rain. So when we reluctantly left we crossed Devon on lovely minor roads to visit RHS Rosemoor. We’ve been before in different seasons and there was still plenty of colour.
I’d never seen these ‘lantern’ like blooms before. They are called Abutilon ‘Red Tiger’ must be an autumnal thing, worth a blip I thought especially for flower Friday. Stayed for a coffee and then made our way back to the motorway and Friday traffic back to Bristol.
We’ve had a lovely three day break and now we are in Bristol for the most important event of all. Someone is 2 tomorrow!!
